60 Mins. Mostly colour. Narration. Starting at the Great Northern section and Kings Cross with many scenes of steam traction before it mostly finished south of Peterborough in 1963. All pacific classes were seen along with V2s and B1s and occasional specials which included a GWR Castle. Then travelling northwards through Finsbury Park and on to Hitchin and Peterborough. Onwards and further north to Doncaster, Langwith, Frodingham and Scunthorpe with scenes of many ex LNER freight types. The former North Eastern Region was visited at Leeds, Wakefield and Bradford before returning to the East Coast main line and Otterington- Northallerton. On arrival at Newcastle for the end of North Eastern steam there were tours around the area that included the Stanhope branch with K4 No. 3442 'The Great Marquess' and some scenes of the Alnwick branch in Northumberland.
