60 Mins. Narration. A further look at the West Coast Main Line which covers the route from London Euston and then northwards to Carlisle and Glasgow. Carnforth is the centre point before moving along the Cumbrian Coast to Whitehaven and then back to Carnforth. Moving northwards to Oxenholme, the last steam freight on the Windermere branch is seen in 1968 and then its onwards to Graygigg for a view of Tebay and Shap. Most material was filmed between 1966 to 1968 and mainly featuring Black Fives, 8Fs and Standards. There are also some 'Return to Steam' tours to Grange -over -Sands supplemented with a few minutes watching LNWR No.790 'Hardwicke' returning to the Cumbrian Coast in 1976 along with rare footage of the last steam hauled TPO from Whitehaven which took place in 1985.
