60 Mins. Mostly colour. Narration. Archive film along the East Coast Route from Kings Cross to York before steam ended south of Peterborough in 1963. Includes detailed views of Kings Cross terminus, Peterborough and Doncaster along with visits to Top Shed and Grantham. Motive power included A1, A2, A3, A4 Pacifics with B1s and V2s putting in appearances. Eastern suburban services up to 1962 are shown with scenes from Liverpool Street to Bethnal Green, Chingford, Hertford East and Bishops Stortford and the LTS line via Dagenham to Shoeburyness. Spalding is visited before travelling onwards to the North Eastern Region and includes a journey over Stainmore on the last day of service in 1962 and then in 1967 with a K1 hauled special to Bishops Auckland.
